If diets keep failing you, the problem may not be willpower.

What does medical weight management include?

Medical weight management combines a clinical assessment with nutrition, physical activity, and ongoing support; medication may be appropriate for some people. At Luminous Health and Wellness in Humble, Dr. Diana Medina Galvan builds a plan around your health history and goals. Progress and treatment needs vary from person to person.

Understanding Obesity

“Obesity is a complex chronic disease. Losing weight is not a matter of eating less and exercising more. Many different genetic, metabolic, and social factors play a role.”

Dr. Diana Medina Galvan at Luminous Health and Wellness

Our Mission

Led by a doctor who has lived this journey herself

Diana Medina Galvan, M.D., DABOM, MSCP

Having faced her own challenges with obesity after each pregnancy, Dr. Medina Galvan understands the physical, emotional, and societal hurdles that come with this journey. She is board certified in obesity medicine, one of a small number of physicians in the Houston area with that credential.

That firsthand experience is why this practice looks for root causes instead of prescribing willpower, and why the care is evidence-based, compassionate, and built for results that last.

Your care journey

Four steps, start to plan

1

Ask your questions

Call or send a message. We answer your questions about cost and what to expect. No pressure.

Ready to start? Say so and we go straight to your labs.

Two ways to reach us. Call now, or send a message and we reply within one business day.

2

Complete your lab work

We send your lab order the same day you pay. Over 50 biomarkers, fasting draw at any Labcorp.

Results take about a week. We call you to schedule once they are in.

3

Your Initial Foundational Assessment

A full hour with Dr. Medina Galvan. Your symptoms, your history, your goals.

Your labs are already in hand, so the time is spent on you. EKG and InBody body composition included.

What does an InBody body composition analysis tell me?

InBody body composition analysis estimates measures such as body fat, muscle mass, and body water. It adds context to body weight and can help track changes over time. Results are interpreted alongside your health history and other findings, rather than used as a diagnosis on their own.

How is body composition used at Luminous?

Luminous Health and Wellness includes InBody analysis in its metabolic assessment in Humble. Dr. Diana Medina Galvan reviews the results with you and uses them as one part of the conversation about nutrition, activity, and treatment goals.

How should I prepare?

Follow the preparation instructions provided by the office. Food, exercise, and hydration can affect measurements, so consistent testing conditions help make repeat results more useful.

Is body composition testing available on its own?

Request a Call Back to ask which service includes the assessment you need and what it costs.

4

Your personalized plan

Dr. Medina Galvan builds your plan from the full picture: anti-obesity medication when appropriate, supplementation, nutrition, lifestyle, and follow-up.

Your membership keeps it moving, adjusting as your body responds.

Ready to Begin?

What it costs, before you call

Losing weight and keeping it off takes months, not one appointment. Here is the whole number, so you can decide on your own time instead of ours..

Step One · One Time

Initial Foundational Assessment

$700

Non-refundable. Includes your lab order, placed the same day you pay.

Over 50 biomarkers of lab work included at Labcorp’s self-pay prices. The EKG, the body composition analysis, and the hour with Dr. Medina Galvan are included on top of them.

Step Two · Ongoing

Membership

$250 / month

Six-month minimum

$2,200 for your first six months. One membership, no line items, no per-visit charges.

Why six months?

Metabolic change is not fast. Medications need titrating, labs need rechecking, and the plan has to move as your body adapts. Six months is how long it honestly takes to know whether something is working, and to change it if it is not.

We would rather tell you that now than have you stop at week six believing you failed again.

When weight is not the whole picture

Metabolism and hormones, together

Some women come in for weight and are also dealing with perimenopause or menopause: hot flashes, poor sleep, brain fog, or mood changes. Those are hormonal concerns, and they need different tools.

We treat them together, not separately. You pay for one assessment, not two.

$425/mo after the Initial Foundational Assessment

Medications

GLP-1s are one tool. They are not the whole plan.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide changed what is possible in obesity medicine, and Dr. Medina Galvan prescribes them. She also prescribes the rest of the FDA-approved options, because the newest medication is not automatically the right one for your body.

They are not all injections anymore. Two GLP-1 pills are now approved for weight: oral Wegovy and Foundayo. They are not interchangeable. Foundayo can be taken any time of day, with or without food. Oral Wegovy has to be first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, with a few sips of water, and nothing else for half an hour. If needles are the reason you have not started, that is worth a conversation.

Which medication, at what dose, for how long, alongside what else, and what happens when you stop: those are clinical decisions that depend on your labs, your history, and your metabolism. They are not a menu.

This is the difference between a clinic that hands you a pen and a physician who is board certified in obesity medicine.

What Dr. Medina Galvan prescribes

Every prescription follows the assessment, never precedes it. What is right for you depends on what we find.

What Sets Us Apart

Quality midlife care means

Access to an Obesity Specialist

Empathy and Understanding

Dr. Medina Galvan has personally navigated weight challenges and understands the emotional weight of this journey. Your concerns are met with compassion, never judgment.

Commitment to Long-Term Success

Weight management is not a one-time event. The membership model means ongoing monitoring, medication adjustments, and consistent support.

Everything you need to know before your first visit

How much does metabolic weight loss care cost?

Your Initial Foundational Assessment is $700, which includes over 50 biomarkers of lab work, an EKG, and an InBody body composition analysis. If you choose ongoing weight management care afterward, membership is $250 per month with a six-month minimum. If you would like both weight loss and hormone care, combined membership is $425 per month and uses the same single $700 assessment. Hormone therapy and direct primary care are priced separately.

Yes. You can complete your assessment with Dr. Medina Galvan before deciding whether to enroll in ongoing membership. If you choose to continue, you may begin then or on a later agreed date. Paying for the assessment does not automatically enroll you in membership.

The $700 assessment fee is non-refundable. Your lab order is placed the same day you pay, and your visit time with Dr. Medina Galvan is reserved for you. If you need to reschedule your appointment, just let us know and we will find a new time.

Yes. Most routine lab panels check a handful of markers. Your assessment includes over 50 biomarkers, chosen to look at your hormones, thyroid, metabolism, and inflammation together, and Dr. Medina Galvan reviews every result in depth with you. The labs are only one part of the assessment: the full hour with her, your EKG, and your InBody body composition analysis are included too. Please bring your recent results. They help us see how things have changed over time.

The assessment is where Dr. Medina Galvan evaluates your metabolic health, explains her findings, and recommends your next steps. If treatment is recommended and you choose to proceed, membership is how we put that plan into action with ongoing treatment, body composition tracking, and follow-up.

No. Medication is one tool, not the whole plan. Some patients do well with nutrition, strength training, and closer follow-up alone. When medication makes sense, Dr. Medina Galvan chooses from the full range of FDA-approved options, including pills, based on your labs, your history, and your goals.

Yes. Bring your medication history, including doses, side effects, and results. Dr. Medina Galvan will review what worked, what did not, and whether a different medication, a different dose, or a different approach alongside it makes more sense for you.

Losing muscle along with fat is a real risk, especially with rapid weight loss. That is why membership includes unlimited InBody body composition analysis, so we track fat and muscle rather than just the number on the scale, and adjust your protein, strength training, and treatment plan to protect your muscle.

Stopping medication without a plan often leads to weight regain, because obesity is a chronic disease. Whether to stop, taper, or continue is a clinical decision Dr. Medina Galvan makes with you, with a maintenance plan built around nutrition, strength, and follow-up.

No. Working outside insurance is what allows individualized, unrushed care focused entirely on your clinical needs rather than billing requirements. Everything is explained up front, with no surprises.

Your prescription insurance may help cover medication filled at the pharmacy. Coverage for weight loss medications varies widely, and some plans exclude them entirely. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan and the medication prescribed. Medication costs are separate from membership.

No. Medications are not included in your membership fee. Prescriptions are filled and paid for separately at the pharmacy.

Yes. Both virtual and in-person appointments are available. Your initial assessment is done in office at our Humble location so we can complete your EKG and body composition analysis, and follow-ups can be done by telehealth.
